Gin Doi – Most folks know these to be fried sesame balls, but my Mom made
them only during Chinese New Years and would blow into the hollow pastry to enlarge
the Gin Doi, then fried the hollow Gin Doi, where it would expand into the size of a
grapefruit while frying. Occasionally my family ate them, but for some reason my Mom
liked to display these. Only later in life, did I learn my Mom loved the hot fried Gin Doi
                   with black bean filling.

Smiling Sesame Balls – Made of a sweetened dough that was rolled around a
bowl of sesame seeds, then deep fried. During the frying, these cookies would crack on
one side, creating a Smiling Sesame Ball.
