We remain 100% volunteer-driven. Through your financial support, we’re able to advance our mission with web hosting, office and event supplies, Thank You honorariums for our amazing speakers, and much more. Thank you for sharing this cost so we can continue to grow and meet your family history needs!

Our group formed in early 2019 with a common interest in Chinese-American Genealogy. We are not a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization; therefore, membership support and non-cash contributions are not tax deductible.

Donation/Membership Financial Transparency

To ensure full financial transparency, we’ve put the following fiscal checks and balances in place.

Volunteer Auditor: Leona Lau, a volunteer member has full disclosure of the books every month to oversee BACGG’s financial activities.

Separation of Deposits and Withdraws: Only two Planning Committee members, Gail Chong and Jeannie Young, can deposit funds, while only two different Committee members, Ron Chan and Allan Low, can withdraw funds. In the event of either Allan or Ron stepping down, their signatories will be removed.

Committee Approval Required to Spend: Expenses of $24.99 or less do not require Committee approval, but all Committee members must be notified. Expenses of $25.00 or more require a majority vote by all Committee members.

Best Practices: All accounting is completed by Leona Lau and reviewed other committee members to ensure standard accounting practices, which includes tracking donations and expenses on a line item basis.

  1. I cannot attend meetings on Wednesdays although retired since I provide clinical supervision for staff in SF that day. However, I will send in my membership dues to support your efforts and hope I will be able to attend meetings in the future. Thanks!

  2. Thank you to Gail Chong for contacting me and answering my questions about BACGG. I live out of the area, but have already found the information on the website valuable. I am now a supportive member.

  3. Dear Gail,

I am a member of the SOCCA- Southern Oregon Chinese Cultural Association. Are there any Chinese Genealogy videos that might be available for our members to research their Chinese roots? Our group is interested in adding Chinese Family Genealogy information to our website. Hopefully the video will garner support and membership for BACGG.
    Our website is: http://www.socca.us

    Thank you for your consideration,
    Virginia Dare Silbowitz

  4. Hi Gayle,
My sister, Doris Dare, who is a member of BACGG, suggested that I contact you regarding Chinese Genealogy Video presentations. I am a member of SOCCA, Southern Oregon Chinese Cultural Association, and we have a website of Chinese presentations and resources. My hope is that there is a Chinese Geneology video that would inform our members about what is available for researching their Chinese roots and make it available on our SOCCA website. Hopefully the video would also generate support and memberships for BACGG. Please let me know if this might be a possibility of exchanging resources.
    Thank You,
    Virginia Dare Silbowitz
